今週のテーマは「米国の博物館がヒロシマ・ナガサキの原爆投下直後の写真を展示する」です。

私からのコメントですが、従来は米国の博物館は、原爆や爆撃機エノラ・ゲイの模型を展示しても、被爆地や被爆者の写真の展示は拒否していたんですよね。また、科学の力でを終わらせたと言いたいのもあって日本人には信じられないかもしれませんが、原爆投下を肯定するような展示になっているんですね。

そのためか、米国人の中には原爆の真の悲劇や悲惨さを知らず、原爆投下の戦争を終わらせた意義ばかりを強調する人も多いんです。

ですから、今回の国立航空宇宙博物館での被爆地の写真の展示は大きな意味があると私は思っています。

The theme for this week is "U.S. Museums Displaying Photos of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Immediately After the Atomic Bombings."

As for my comment, traditionally, U.S. museums have been reluctant to display photos of the bombed cities and survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, even though they may exhibit models of the atomic bombs or the Enola Gay bomber. It might be hard for Japanese people to believe, but some exhibitions tend to lean towards affirming the dropping of the atomic bombs, emphasizing that it brought an end to the war through the power of atomic science.

As a result, there are Americans who may not be aware of the true tragedy and devastation caused by the atomic bombs, and instead, focus on the perceived significance of ending the war through their use.

Therefore, I believe that the exhibition of photos from the atomic-bombed cities at the National Air and Space Museum holds remarkable importance.
